Eastman Strings was founded in 1992 by Qian Ni, an accomplished flutist and graduate of Boston University. Mr. Ni began with four violins after graduating college, made by European trained violin makers from his hometown in China. The first violin shops he visited offered a tremendous amount of constructive feedback ranging from varnish recipes to craftsmanship. The information he gathered helped him refine the methods used back home in order to meet the discriminating needs of specialty shops across the country. Over the next two decades, Eastman Strings evolved into a large master workshop devoted to the handcrafting of fine instruments The top two luthiers he worked with from his humble beginnings 20 years ago are still managing the Eastman String workshops today, which has become a globally recognized brand providing instruments for students and professionals. It’s US headquarters is just outside Los Angeles in Pomona.
